What is Jin Shin Jyutsu®?

Simply stated, Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced gin shin jitsu) is a Japanese art that balances and relaxes the body. It is the art of living in rhythm with nature and getting to know yourself.

“In ancient times, traditional peoples saw no distinction between body, mind, and spirit … the practices they used to assist the body naturally promoted physical, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.

This practice teaches that each of us possesses the simplest instruments needed to bring about harmonious balance—the breath and our hands. It reminds us that these instruments are all we need to enhance our physical ad mental vitality, which in turn help eliminate the causes underlying disease or “disharmony.” Most importantly, it reawakens our awareness of the life energy that permeates the universe. This renewed awareness enables us to send life-giving energy through various locations throughout the body.”

Jin Shin Jyutsu harmonizes the life energy of the body by applying gentle touch on 26 “Safety Energy Locks”, similar to acupuncture, but without needles.

Your Jin Shin Jyutsu® session

As you rest fully clothed on a cushioned massage table, Dawna will listen to your energy pulses to observe your body’s energy flow. Then she will apply gentle hands-on sequences to clear energy pathways and increase vitality bringing deep relaxation and a profound sense of well-being.

At the end of your session, Dawna will suggest self-help flows (“homework”) you can apply to continue the work of harmonizing your body, mind, and spirit. Consistency in receiving sessions and using self-help regularly is key to achieving balance and lasting harmony.
